Our Story

Hi there,

We are William & Caitlin from 7 Springs Farm, and we are the founders of Horse Flax. We wanted to share with you the story of how this all began.

On our family farm in Missouri, one of the things we do is provide a retirement ranch for horses from across the country. We care for ex- show horses, race horses, reining horses, event horses, etc., most of whom are slightly arthritic from their respective careers. Their owners love them dearly and wanted to give them a great gift by sending them us where they can spend the remainder of their years in lush pastures with their new friends. However, not everyone wants to keep their retired horses on intense diets with a medicine cabinet full of supplements, which can be harsh on their system. We saw that after being taken off their many supplements the horses had less energy and you could tell that their joints just ached. They would just slowly walk from their stalls to the pasture. And so, we went on the search for something we could give the senior horses that would ease their aches, give them some energy, not compromise their system (something natural!)...that was cost effective at the same time.

Needless to say, we came up with Horse Flax. For about the first six months we just kept it to ourselves and gave it to the retired horses staying with us. We saw major improvements over those six months, but most incredibly we saw improvement in the first 10 days the horses were on the supplement. They began running out to their pasture and their joints showed more fluidity in movement. It was amazing! After a while we started some of our younger horses on Horse Flax to see what improvements we could see in them. For one thing, it did wonders on their coat. My 6 year old Fox Trotter's coat is softer and shinier than it has ever been, and our trail horses don't get tired out so easily when we take them on a good day's ride.

Our horse friends began to notice a difference in our horses and started asking us what we were doing differently. We told them about our supplement and they couldn't wait to get their hands on it! So we began giving out samples to all of our friends that were horse owners and equine professionals that had horses we thought might benefit from Horse Flax. They did month and two month trials and also saw amazing results, and not just in the senior horses. We knew we had a good thing and felt like we hit gold!

Once we knew that Horse Flax could help all of these horses, we wanted to make it available to everyone and so we began developing our packaging, website, marketing, and distribution methods. Our main goal was to keep Horse Flax affordable. There are plenty of supplements out there for the coat or for the joints that work but they are just too costly to feed, especially if you have two or more horses. Spending $50 - $100 per month, per supplement can add up too quickly. Plus, most of the supplements out there are not all natural. So here we are today, ready to help your horse be as healthy as he or she can be!
